switched to "cheaper" gas/elec provider but monthly payment has gone up!
Hi,
I used The Cheap Energy Club to swap to what is supposed to be a cheaper tariff from Scottish Power standard tariff to NPower Price Fix November 2014. I was paying £76 per month with Scottish Power and was supposed to save around £11.82 per month by switching to NPower. However when my new monthly amount has come through it will be £92.73 a month!
Any ideas as to what I should do?

Your monthly direct debit doesn't really have any relation to what you actually use. Check your bills when they come and make sure the usage and amount owed make sense, and if they're lower than the monthly DD which sounds likely, ask them to reduce it.0

thanks. I've just contacted Npower and although I should be paying 6.78p per day standing charge my Welcome letter says I'll be paying 9.66p
They've said this is an issue with the Welcome letters and although I've asked for confirmation of this in writing, they say they can't do this until Wednesday when a manager is in (seems ridiculous!) My cooling off period ends tonight...0 -
NPower state on my contract that you can enter your meter readings on line if you want an accurate bill. I did this monthly with BG and only paid for the energy I used.0

thanks guys! After waiting an hour on the phone to Npower I think I've managed to get this sorted...apparently I have to contact them when I give them my starting meter reading and apply to have the direct debit reduced. I have an estimate of annual usage from my previous supplier0
