MyHermes Parcel Locker - has anyone used this?

Just seen this advertised and wondered if anyone has used it?
Basically, you take your Parcel/s to the ByBox machine (MyHermes Parcel Locker), scan the barcode on your package and place it in the locker.

The item then gets delivered within 2-4 days.
It beats waiting around all day for a collection i suppose, especially if you have small packages.
Sounds a bit "too easy" though. ;)

Thing is with Hermes...it is easy! And I've never had a problem with it.

There is a widespread thing like this already with DX boxes...but this seems a bit more secure/specific for what people may need.

I use Hermes a bit and the collection guy is good (easy when at work) and drop off is just around the corner. Never used this but would be interested to give it a go.
  • I have seen this recently advertised by Parcel Monkey but direct with ByBox and not Hermes.

    Hope it helps.

I've found out that my local ByBox Locker is less than 10 mins walk from where i live (my nearest Hermes Drop off centre is a lot further).
So i'll go and check it out today, to see what it actually looks like.
  • It looks just like an Amazon locker, but in white. You type your code into the screen in the middle and it opens a door for your parcel. Works quite well.

I went and had a look earlier.
Seems secure enough, but how reliable is it........i.e when do the packages get collected/what if the code doesn't work or the door doesn't open etc. Do you get refunded?

And £4.20 (or £4.49 + vat on Parcelmonkey) does seem quite steep [for doing most of the work yourself].
Maybe if it was cheaper i'd chance it.

Any idea why R. Mail don't do these lockers (i.e for Recorded delivery pkgs).
Would cut down the queues in Post offices that's for sure. ;)

No point asking me what the top brass decide ;)
However you have to remember at present, most of RMs set up is under the control of regulators
With RMs network they could easily bring in services such as these
The parcel goal/idea was to move to all tracked packets
However by the time the bring it in(if ever) they may have already lost the customers
  • I've been on the other end and used the Amazon version to collect a parcel. Thought it was really handy.

Might try to Herpes ones as I do send lots of stuff via them (But use the drop off point in the petrol station)
