Recommendations for hotel/apartments in Gran Canaria please!?

Hi there, we have booked flights to GC next April and I'm now looking for suitable accommodation. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 4 and 9. We usually go all inclusive but would do s/c etc as long as there is still some entertainment on site plus activities in the day for children.
We've been looking at Puerto de Mogan, Maspalomas, Melonares, Amadores. We'd like to be close to or on the beach and be able to walk out at night if we wish.(although I'm aware we may not be able to have all of these options!)
Has anyone any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!:)

I love the Cordial Mogan Playa in Puerto de Mogan. Look at the reviews on Tripadvisor to see what I mean!0

The Cordial Mogan Playa only sleeps a maximum of three per room I'm afraid so you would need to book 2 separate rooms which would then mean paying for 4 adults! The Meloneras Palace does have Junior Suites available which sleep 4 but they don't have many and they sell out quickly so may be full already.
How about the Cordial Mogan Valle? These are luxury apartments near to the habrour area in Puerto Mogan, a bit further back from the beach at 600m but not all that far really. You can do Self Catering right up to Full Board so it's quite flexible too and plenty for the children too. Or perhaps the Paradise Costa Taurito & Waterpark? It's a 4* All Inclusive with plenty for the children including a mini waterpark and it's just 200m from the beach too.I am a Travel Agent

This is really odd as thomascook are giving a price for junior suites at the cordial Mogan playa?!
I will look at the paradise costa taurito now..0 -
The Junior Suites at the Cordial Mogan Playa only sleep a maximum of three per room though so shouldn't show up for 2 adults and 2 children even on the Thomas Cook website.I am a Travel Agent

The Cordial Mogan Valle apartments are next to the Cordial Mogan Playa hotel (same company) and seem to get very good reviews as well. Bear in mind that they have no aircon, although this doesn't seem to be a problem. If I'm correct, they can use some of the hotel facilities, but you would need to check this.0

Ok, so at the minute the Cordial Mogan Valle is looking the best option but I am concerned its going to be too quiet. How far away from the Mogan Playa is it?
We are used to a big hotel that has activities throughout the day and entertainment in the evenings and although we aren't necessarily wanting exactly that all holiday this year, we would like it as an option, so wondering if this is going to be the best choice for us?
We need somewhere with a heated pool as we're going early April...
I've looked at Dunas Suites in Maspalomas as they are middle of the road price wise for A/I - my only issue here is a lot of the reviews mention cockroaches as its all bungalows on one level so this is putting me off!
The H10 Meloneras is too expensive, as are the Gloria Palaces.
Resort wise, we don't want to be in a 'sunny Blackpool' type place but do want to be able to either stay in an A/I good enough to not want to leave (apart from visits to waterpark etc), or in an apartment/hotel where walks into a nearby town/village are possible. We just can't seem to settle on something that ticks all boxes for the right price!
It's worth mentioning at this point that we have already bought flights, it's hotel/apartment only we need...0 -
The Cordial Mogan Valle does have entertainment during the day and several times a week at night so there would be things for you to do. There's also a children's playground for the little ones too. The reviews also seem quite good too.
I don't know much about the Dunas Suites, but Gran Canaria and the other canary islands can and do have problems with cockroaches sometimes due to the heat. They are native to the canary islands and you may well see them when you're out and about but generally speaking in most accommodation they are not a problem. They can be attracted by food so make sure you don't leave any lying around the apartment (particularly sweet things) and if needed purchase some 'baygone' repellent spray from the supermarket.
Resort wise if you don't want sunny Blackpool you are better off avoiding Playa del Ingles. Puerto Rico is a popular tourist resort and does cater well for the brits too so may be better not booking to stay there without doing more research as to whether or not it would be too much for you. Puerto Mogan, Amadores, San Augustin and Maspalomas should be more what you are looking for.I am a Travel Agent
