I've heard that Acer and Lenovo are quite bad for bloatware? It's something that really annoys me and I'm looking for a new laptop at the moment.

Um, Apple.
Sony has loads of bloatware, as does HP/Compaq, Dell, in fact pretty much all of them.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
The problem is that manufacturers are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
If they do then anything you don't consider useful is bloat but other users might find useful.
If they don't reviewers and users complain "I've paid all this money and got no extras you'd think they would include <insert list of programs here> for the money!"
I used to simply remove anything I didn't want.
There are places you can buy a new machine without an OS or companies like Dell with their XPS 13 Laptop that comes with Linux rather than Windows but installing your own OS or programs is as much work as removing the bloat you don't want.
What is it that you consider to be bloat? One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
A bit surprised no one has mentioned the free program
which can be found at https://www.pcdecrapifier.com which has been designed to do exactly what the OP wants.0 -

Why bother with that?
Windows users already have the same facility in Control panel under Programs and Features. It gives you a list of what programs are installed. All you have to do is select what you don't want and uninstall it. No need to add to the bloat. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Surely you must have noticed that Windows built in uninstall feature leaves quite a bit of debris behind, it rarely removes all traces eg registry entries, folders etc. I merely suggested the program as it's often recommended around the forums.
Personally, I use Revo uninstaller which is another alternative and again is generally highly recommended for the more thorough job it does.0 -
First thing I do when I get a new laptop is make a list of what drivers it needs and then reinstall using the vanilla OS from Microsoft.
Even PCSpecialist slightly customise their installs.0
