We have been with sky TV for a number of years and disconnected the telephone a number of years ago. We have got a sky + box coming this week so I tried to reconnect the Telephone. Jjust put the 2+5 connections/blue+white cables into the main socket. Our normal phone rings out but will not ring in ?
2 questions. Are thse the right connections, does the sky connection require and other cables to connect.
2. will sky require me to connect the telephone line for the first 12 Months as it did originally. only up grading to Sky+ not changing contract etc

When you got it disconnected did you cut the cable and remove the socket or did you contact the phone company and have them disconnect it so you didnt receive and bills? if you did the 2nd option then BT will need to reconnect the line too.
If this is the main socket in the house you need a master socket that has a ring capacitor on the board.
Blue/white to pin 2
orange/white to pin 3
white/orange to pin 4 (not used but looks tidy)
white blue to pin 50 -
When you say "will not ring in," do you mean you can't ring in at all, or is it just that the phone isn't ringing?
If you can't ring in at all, what do you get when you try? Dead tone, engaged tone or what?
If you get ring tone, but the phone isn't ringing, try picking the phone up while ringing in to see if it connects. Maybe the ringer on the phone is off/turned down/broken?
As Little John says, make sure you have the correct face plate if indeed it is the master socket. If it's not, you need the orange/white wire connected as this provides the ring for any extension sockets.
As for Sky, this is from their Sky+ T&C'sYour Sky+ box must be connected to a fixed telephone line for 12 months.Dave. :wave:0
