can anyone recommend a good night light for my toddler

hi, I have a simple white night light, which gives a bit of light to my 2 year olds room.
He has started to become difficult to settle at night, but we stick to the same routine, bath, story etc. I wondered if the light show type night lights or glow lamps would give him something to look at and create a calm environment.
Any success stories, thanks

These ones are lovely - not too bright, and they are rechargeable and can be used as torches too. They come in various characters for boys or girls.

If your child is difficult to settle or waking a lot the last thing you need
is something 'stimulating' or 'interesting'.
A simple plug in socket type light that gives just enough light to
define the room is all you need.
Honestly it might sound harsh but the last thing you want to do is make waking up fun.0 -
I only have a baby and she has a Tomy lightshow. But both her and me are mesmerised by this also: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Childrens-nightlight-Turtle-projector-1800-0003/dp/B004885YUG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1382911869&sr=8-2&keywords=star+turtle (bought after reading the reviews on Amazon!). I think most children like stars on the ceiling - I remember I did when I was a child! (and still do now!0

wasn't so expensive mind.
Gives the idea of night time and day time.0 -
We have Christmas fairy lights pinned to the wall. Only a few mind you and they aren't really bright ones. X0

We has a Thomas tank engine torch/nightlight when its on its base.
Only problem is that little one lifts it off, then uses it as a torch in bed..eventually falls asleep with it..and we put it back0 -
Not a night light but we use the Gro Clock which shows a blue star during the night and sun during the day, it's been fabulous for helping my toddler understand about nighttime and going to bed.0

We have the star turtle too, and LO loves it. She can even say 'star tur-tow'

We also have the gro clock, but LO was a bit too young for it when we first tried (18 months). We may give it another go when we lower the side of the cot, to help her understand when she's allowed to wake us up!Mortgage when started: £330,995

We used these, the kids still have one on at mums.

Dd now had fairy lights in her room and ds loves the dark so this is a happy medium when they share. Lovely size to be able to take away with you as well.“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. If you don't listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won't tell you the big stuff when they are big, because to them all of it has always been big stuff.”0 -
I've just bought a gro clock - mainly to use at the moment to give a little bit of light to the room now the clocks have gone back and the nights are dark earlier on. Reasoning being my eldest likes to sit and look at books for 5-10 minutes till she settles down to sleep (can't knock this for a 19 month old) so she just needs that tiny bit of ambient light in the room to do that and all the plug sockets to use the plug-in type lights are in flipping arkward places behind furniture so I figured I'd buy the clock early to use later on anyway and get double use out of it.
Also have a projector that just puts a static picture on the ceiling and plays wave sounds for 20 minutes before fading to off which we use in our room for the youngest child - just reduces the initial "woah it's really dark" factor but keeps the darkness through the night if they wake up during it. I can't remember the make of that one - it's a really basic blue one - only annoyance being it's freestanding and needs to be free standing with a clear view up the ceiling so being on the edge of drawers and stuff cuts off some of the image... but with the way our ceilings are with the slope of the roof coming into the rooms it's really nice projected onto that angle so the kids can see it easily.
Looked at the star turtle but I know my husband would be cross checking the factual accuracy of the stars on it and I'd want to kill him!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
