Buying a House

Hi,

We are first time buyers - we found a 3 bedroom house but its up for 200K.

The problem is we think it's over priced all the other houses in the area are double glazing and this one is not.

Do you think we have a case to get the price reduced on that basis? if so how much do you think we should go for?

Thanks

Alex

The vendors, and EA, will know this so you won't really need to justify a lower offer. Just have a target in mind what you are prepared to pay for it (research what these other houses actually sold at) and go from there.

If the EA did say something about your offer just say that's all you think it's worth and say windows being the main reason.

    You say
we think it's over priced all the other houses in the area
so how over priced do you think it is?

And how much extra is it worth it to you to move into a cosy double gazed house as opposed to one you have the hasstle of dg yourself (or living with the cold)?

I'd ask them to knock £5,000 off to pay for the double glazing.

I tried to get a seller to reduce the price by a few thousand for the same reason last year, he said no but it's always worth asking.
