re. syncing iPod & downloading new album from iTunes

Two questions:
1. Just recently i have noticed that tracks or artists who i have 'unticked' on my iTunes account on my laptop still stay on the iPod. Why is this? i have also noticed that some tracks on my iPod have a cloud symbol with an arrow pointing up. What does this mean exactly?
2. I have bought 2 new albums from iTunes today. Both are listed with my other collections but 1 of them is also in a separate list underneath which says it is a manual download and suggests that i transfer tracks elsewhere. I don't know what they mean by this. it has never happened to any other album purchased from iTunes.
