securing a fence to breeze block - advice please :D

I've constructed a very lightweight fence out of 2x1 timber and wire mesh (the 2x1 simply frames the mesh to keep it taught). I've contructed it to sit on top of the low breeze block wall that already exists and added a few battons to the front that I intend securing to the wall to help keep it in place.
I've been advised that masonry nails would be my best option of securing to the wall and have duly bought some - but being a 'plug and screw' kinda gal I'm worried that I'm cutting corners.
Can anyone with a bit more experience in this area please advise????
Will Masonry nails do the trick (given there should be no wind resistance as the panel is mesh and the area well protected from wind anyway)
There's about 2' of 2x1 under the fence to fix it to the wall, and the 'panels' are about 2' in height. the lower part of the 'panels' will rest on top of the breeze block.

I'd really appreciate advice as making the panels has taken me ages and I'd hate for them to be ruined!

Thanks,

  • Hi Kaz,

Msonry nails are not so good in my opinion!

Personally I hate the damn things.

I'd use masonry screws like these- Fixing wood to masonry

Or failing that I would use screws and wall plugs.

Yep use those screws above ^^ they are very quick to fit, about 35p each i think i paid last month for some as i was putting a fence post onto a brick wall, alot easier and stronger than rawplugs

Thank you both for your replies and especially the links - I had a sneaky feeling that the nails might not be my best option. I'll be nipping along to the local hardware store shortly to pick up some of those screws and then that should be the end to my dogs escape attempts!
    Thanks again,
