Don't forget that some people will buy YS stuff for pets eg fruit, veg, salad leaves and meat, fish or poultry.

I have a team leader at work that has lizards and a bearded lizard and buys the lettuce packs and cucumbers for them. Two colleagues have parrots and they eat the ready ripened pears, nectarines - the riper the softer it is for them.

You should have replaced the item you took back from her trolley with a full price one, by the time she noticed it would probably have been too late for her to do anything about it.

I was planning on doing that but there were no others left with a longer date.

Also has anyone noticed seeing things in the reduced but cannot find them in the normal section? Asda is the main culprit. If I had something nice in a YS, I see in a week or so if it's on offer yet cannot find it.
  • I was stalking the chiller cabinet in Tesco a couple of weeks ago and there was packs of mini fillets of chicken, originally priced at £4.00 each, reduced to 80p, picked up 3. I didn't realise the were 3 for £10 so i got £2 off the rest of my shopping and i got £12 worth of chicken for 40p. stocked up my freezer nicely.
I used to feel ashamed and embarrassed buying reduced food, but my freezer if full of meat and reduced gluten free bread (which is expensive) and i eat healthier than others i know for half the price.

This seems to be a mistake. Tesco and Sainsbury's used to do that but stopped a while ago. Nowadays it is only Waitrose that still applies discounts to reduced items.

Yes it's the way the software calculates the discount. The program says three at £4 = £12 so I must take £2 off at the end in the discounts.
I have noticed that this once worked and then didn't and now it does again.
The only thing that is constant is change.

Worked for me a couple of months ago in a Tesco Extra. Was very happy with the result :)

It IS madness and plain rude and there is absolutely NO excuse for shoving people out of the way so you can get your fill and take everything, leaving nothing for anyone else.

Sign of the times i'm afraid but I'm very disappointed to see people on here that think it's OK!

I don't think anyone said they agree with shoving.
