                    Hi there,
My boyfriend and I are thinking of planning our first proper holiday abroad and, he being much more travelled than I, suggested that he thinks Cyprus would be a good choice. I'm happy to follow his judgement on this as I have only had 2 holidays abroad and don't really know where is nice to go. However when we google holidays to Cyprus we are just overwhelmed - there are so many resorts and areas that we don't know where to start with choosing. I would love to hear about other people's experiences and any recommendations?
Things we are looking for;
Nice hotel or apartment, not far from the beach
Interesting town life, shops and culture
Within easy travelling distance of visitor attractions
Things we would like to avoid;
Drunken nightlife / bars full of stag/hen do's!
We are planning to go out of school holidays to avoid hiked-up holiday charges.
Thank you!

            If you like nightlife, clubbing etc, go to the Ayia Napa end of the island, otherwise try Pafos and the surrounding area.
 Cyprus is a bit of a Marmite island, you either love it or hate it. I love it, but I'm not sure why.
 Have a look at the Tripadvisor forum for more info...

            Avoid summer as it gets very hot. Paphos is nice with a great waterfront eating out overlooking the water is fairly cheap and lots of choice. Beware hiring cars from back street places. No recommendation on hotels as we stay in a relatives flat.0

            I wouldn't discount Limassol either, more of a Caf! society atmosphere, plenty of places to eat, a strip with bars and clubs but not notorious like Agia Napa. There is a beach, not the best on island but sandy and shallow, and you are never too far from a good beach. Close to Fasouri waterpark, which is a fab day out, and imo the best waterpark on the island (hotels often run a coach trip). You have the old town of Limassol with some lovely buildings and Churches, a small castle. Close by is Kolossi Castle and the huge ruins at Kurion (very hot in July and August). We lived close by for a few years and found Limassol pretty good for access to anywhere on the island, if you have a car. It's a very small island you can get anywhere and back on a day trip :rotfl:0

            I would def recommended the east (Portaras, Pernera Agia Napa) over Pathos. The beaches & sea are much nicer, its cheap & easy to get about.
 Don't go in July or August, its really hot. September's lovely.0

            All I can really add is to avoid coral bay. It's the only Cyprus holiday I've been on and haven't been back, the beach was awful and the resort dead.0
