Car Finance
Hi all..
I purchased a car on finance back at the end of June this year, I purchased a 2011 MG6 Magnette TSE with 1,912 miles on the clock for £11,250 and the finance agreement is with GMAC. The payments are over 5 years.
How ever since buying the car it has been nothing but faulty, some continuous, with the rest keep cropping up. The car came with MG warranty and I can honestly say it's the worst customer service I have ever received... I contact them with a problem, it takes weeks for them to come back to me, it goes in, comes out with a new problem or not rectified problem.
To break it down, I received the car on the 2nd July (+2 days maybe), shortly after it had to go back with rattles from the interior, cruise control faults, idling problems and radio reception problems.
I received it back with the rattle still present even though they know exactly what it is, cruise control fault came back after less than a week, the head unit now turns it self off randomly for at least a few seconds/minutes. It went in again after days of me chasing them up, only to come back with 1 of the problems "sorted", that being the cruise control... This time I noticed my alloy had been scuffed, I take it up, after 3 weeks of chasing I finally get them to agree to fix it.
I got quite upset and had a rant at the MG Sales Centre where the manager then got involved with my case, he had the car taken from (traveled to my house) and left with me a courtesy car with a full tank of fuel for my use as I wish, I get it back with what appears to be all the problems sorted only it isn't, the head unit crashed again less than a week later and the car is now juddering under acceleration in second gear.
Where do I stand with it now? I just want rid of this rubbish machine any way possible. I just don't know what to do, and you lot seem the experts.
Too long, didn't read? Bought a car which has been nothing but faulty, received extremely poor customer service, and now want rid as the problems are still there.

The car and the finance are normally two separate items. You can pursue the car issues under the SOGA etc but you will normally be held to the finance deal.0
-
What is SOGA?0
-
Sale Of Goods Act, the act of Parliament that enacted consumer protection.0
-
So what would I do with regards to that? I mean, what can I pursue from a faulty car? Just to have it fixed or replaced?0

It may be a bit too long a time from June until now to formally reject the car but you could try. If it really is the pits (and it sounds like it) then you should stand a good chance of doing so.
Why not speak to your local Trading Standards office?"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Why not speak to your local Trading Standards office?
The only problem with doing that is that I never bought the car brand new, only used... I mean, can I reject a used car? I'm the first registered owner so to speak as it was an ex demo at an MG dealer before.0 -
You're pretty much lumped with the finance I would have thought.0

I'd imagine so... I can either wait for half of the agreement and get rid then, or go to another manufacturer and buy a car with them and have them buy me out of it...
In fact, if I saved up the pennies, could I sell the car and pay off the negative equity and get out of it that way?worried_jim wrote: »Brave Man!
Lesson learned! Ha ha! Never again...
I've always had MG Rovers and never had a problem, bought a SAIC MG and it's a piece of rubbish.0
