My Costco membership is coming up for remewal and they have drawn to my attention a dual offer of membership linked to AmEx.
Anyone give a heads up on the deal, is it good bad or indifferent? I believe it costs the same as the anual renewal.

It says on that page that the Costco Amex has no annual fee? So I assume you still have to pay your Costco membership?0

yes you still have to pay your Costco fee seperateDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

There was a fee but they no longer charge this (and are refunding to holders who have paid in in past year).
You get 1% cashback on everything (2% on travel, 3% on dining out) whether Costco or elsewhere so it's money for nothing. You still need to pay the annual costco membership fee (if you are spending over £1800 per year in Costco (online or warehouse) it's worthwhile getting exec membership as you get 2% cashback from Costco which costs £36 more than standard membership - £66 as opposed to £30). The Amex cashback is separate from the Exec card cashback.0 -
It's also worth noting that Costco don't accept credit cards, apart from Amex, however, this doesn't have to be the Costco Amex.
I use both the gold and platinum amex cards in Costco, because these work out better value for me with my spending patterns (everywhere).Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!0 -
Possibly stupid and definitely highly vain question - is the Costco Amex the one that's sort of irridescent and changes colour in the light depending on how you hold it?0

I believe so, yes.0 -
If you're a member already, I see no reason not to get it now that they've removed the annual fee. (Apart from worrying about your credit limit)
3% at restaurants is pretty decent!
I keep my Costco card as my primary, with a backup Amazon card which gives me 1% on spend anywhere.
And if I can get a new promotional card I'll use that to the limit then switch back to the pair mentioned above. (eg Capital One / Barclays or something)0 -
Keep an eye on the cashback offers on Amex.
Only a few days ago, the Gold Preferred Rewards card gave £60 cashback through Quidco, but it's now £10. The spend £2,000 in three months and get 20,000 points is still on, though.
The 5% cashback up to £100 in three months is on again.
The Gold card is fee free for the first year, so remember to cancel.
An interesting freebie is the complementary visits to airport lounges. You get a Lounge Club card, which entitles you to two free visits.
I have used the Amex Gold in Costco, no problems.0
