I know that they have the product!

My complaint is that they are hyping the deal and having a very limited amount of this super deal.!!

Every time I have gone in, there are loads of people asking why they have run out so quickly!

It will be on offer again in the run up to xmas so dont worry about it. Buy 1 of the Baileys alternatives you can get.

I went to Morrisons and managed to get the President unsalted butter offer (1.25) but I did see people muttering about lack of the Velvet loo roll offer, I guess that had sold out.

mysupermarket.co.uk will list other available offers if you click on the product within a supermarket. Often if it's on offer at one store it will be on offer elsewhere too.
  • assuming that these offers are the same as what the choc tins were if you go to customer services they shall give you a voucher that allows you to buy up to 6 when they are next in stock at that price. This is advertised all over my local store
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!
  • I went into my local Morrisons on Saturday and Sunday and was told a delivery was due with Baileys. My Mum went in later that day and spoke to a friend who works there who told her that they wouldn't be getting any further deliveries as there was no stock of it at all anymore. I guess they shouldn't run the offers so long or, be more vigilant of people who abuse the limit per customer by just doing separate transactions when they get to the checkout.
  • I managed to get 2 bottles yesterday in Leicestershire.

Something seems to be amiss at Morrisons. We defected to the chain a few months ago but in the past weeks stock control seems to have gone to hell in a handcart. I've mentioned it to staff and they just shrug and agree.

One would hope that someone at Morrisons would be monitoring sites like this to see what consimers think. But in the case of Morrisons I can't shake off the impression that someone would have to teach them how to use a computer first.

Keen prices. Great meat. But wandering around in a timewarp looking dazed..

As people have said, the small print is while stocks last. As long as they can prove they had one bottle at that price then there's nothing illegal or scam like about it.

There is something illegal about bait advertising which is a banned practice under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations. The ban on bait advertising means that a retailer should have reasonable stock for the item being advertised - in line with the likely demand/scale of promotion etc. Advertising a brilliant offer to get people in the door then saying 'sorry we only had one but would you like to buy x instead' is bait advertising and is banned (unless the advert actually said only 1 available per store).

Small print saying 'while stocks last' may not be enough to defend against charges of using a banned practice unless the retailer could show that their stocks would be adequate for the anticipated demand generated by the promotion.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!
  • I have managed to get all the Morrisions deals I have wanted but I have always been there early doors on the Thursday . The shop has always been really busy and they have had loads of the deals however of folk are complaint as they don't have any deal left 2/3 days later ... The stores are really busy when it's a good deal as everyone is trying to save money.....

If they can prove that effort was put in to sell the item then there is nothing illegal about it. It is not strictly bait advertising I was mentioning in the post you reference. They are using the said product as bait yes, but the definition is different for bait advertising. I mentioned that it would bring people into the store so they would pick other things up in store whilst they were there, not a like for like but inflated priced alternative product to the one advertised. If the OP has an issue, perhaps get in touch with the ASA to register the complaint or look on their site to see if it is currently being investigated as inappropriate advertising should they feel that it is inappropriate advertising.

I do know a bit about advertising, I've worked in the industry for 10 years.
