Recently there have been 2 special deals,

2 large tins of xmas sweets with a huge reduction.

and

this week Baileys for 9 pounds.

Each time I have gone to my local store before midday, and they have been sold out. I was also told that no more would be available!!!!!!

This is a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nope not a scam, I bought two bottles on Thursday. My husband went in on Friday - all gone. All adverts state - while stocks last. If the deal is that good then the stocks will not last long x

I know that they have the product!

My complaint is that they are hyping the deal and having a very limited amount of this super deal.!!

Every time I have gone in, there are loads of people asking why they have run out so quickly!
  • Oh no I was in Morrisons today and I completely forgot about the Baileys offer. Argh! Didn't see any of the sweets on the offer though.

Getting you into the store is the name of the game. Called footfall or some name like that. Maybe bonus generating for the manager.
You have to be on the ball, like.... don't shop there for a while or only buy bargains or walk out without buying.
. I find that my local Lidl respond to Aldi Super Six and drop prices. Also with Lidl, get there early on half price weekend.

How do you know they have the product ??

All supermarkets only have a limited amount of stock - otherwise they will end up with too much stock at the end of the promotion.

They have run out because its a good deal -first come, first served.

Its called a loss leader. An offer that will get you into the store to buy that and then other things as well;)
  • Greedy people also who fill up their trolley or come back in for more or send other half in for more. Etc.
  • I went on the Friday mid day and the assistant told me all the Baileys had gone within hours on Thursday. There were a lot of other people asking too and she seemed rather on the defensive so I guess people who missed out were getting indignant.
Morrisons were promoting the new chocolate Baileys at the same time which perhaps was ill thought out timing.
Anyway it's like any other flash popular bargain. It will always go very quickly.

I went in when the 2 sweet tubs for £7 offer was on, and they were all sold out.Its definitely not a scam, all pricing offers are down to stock limits.
Stores will only be sent so many, and once their gone, they're gone otherwise they run the risk of losing money.
It is partly based on footfall, they will usually put on a big offer in the final weeks before payday when they know their sales slump as people are running out of money.

So the marketing department have done their job well. They've got you in on the back of the deal and while you're there "I'll just pick up" or "I 'll get this while i'm here to save going to Asda". As people have said, the small print is while stocks last. As long as they can prove they had one bottle at that price then there's nothing illegal or scam like about it.
