Well even if you only do 6000 miles a year the difference between 18mpg and 28 mpg is 119 gallons a year, or over £700 a year. My mondeo does 47mpg so compared with me you will be paying over £1250 pounds more.0 -

And I shop at M&S when presumably I could eat from Iceland.
I also prefer to not travel in economy on long haul travel.
I could presumably get a 70 mpg vehicle which would leave your Mondeo feeling less than economical but that also would be beside the point.0 -
I'd rather have a fun car to drive at a lower MPG than a miserable car that'll do 800miles to a tank. If they can afford the petrol then why should they drive a dull car just to get better fuel economy.0
