help getting bank charges back from santander

hi im new to this forum, but receive martins money saving emails every week ,after receiving one 2 weeks ago it had a piece in about claiming back bank charges if they had caused financial difficulty so I got copies of all my statements for the past 6 years and high lighted all the bank charges and overdraft charges that I had incurred and still do.it totalled £4,950. without interest added. so I wrote the letter to santander using the templates and included my reasons that I thought it had caused hardship,i told them that I had nearly lost my house and had a repossession order attached to it and am still in arrears with my mortgage, how I fell behind on my council tax and had court orders attached to them on more than one occasion ,how I,d had balliffs knocking my door on more than one occasion for council tax. also that I couldn't pay my utility bills and fell behind with these, how I was trapped in a cycle of charges each month which meant as soon as any money went in it was taken out with charges.that I had borrowed money from pay day loan companies also borrowed off family members and even had to borrow from a door stop lender. I explained that the reason was my income had dropped due to being a self employed taxi driver and my earnigs had dropped which ment it was difficult to earn enough to survive,i also told them how due to the stress I ended up on antidrepessants but still couldn't deal with it,and this nearly cost me my relationship of 24 years which led me to taking an overdose (april this year)as I couldn't see any other way out of the mess I had gotten myself into.my partner didn't relise how bad things were because I kept her in the dark about it,i was robbing peter to pay paul.but luckily I was found and ended up in hospital and am now receiving help from a brilliant mental health team.i explained all this to Santander and iv just received a letter back explain that basicly im not entitled to claim any back as they don't consider these bank charges had caused financial hardship, but as a good will gesture they have refunded back £80 that I had incurred this month in charges.i just wanted to no if it is worth contacting them again and then contacting the ombudsman.id just like to say that I am now taking control of my finances and my life i have just started a new job that will give us a regular income that we can be able to live on.and iv got arrangements in place with all the companies that I am in arrears with to pay it all off.so things are finally looking up.thanks for any advice received.

Seriously? You don't know how paragraphs and punctuation work?

  • Banks don't have to look at back-dated financial hardship.

They will however look at current hardship cases which they appear to have done. They don't have to do this, well done on getting something back.

RED CARD, is there any need for your patronising comment about paragraphs and punctuation, it took alot for me to write on this forum, only for you to put your pathetic comment back, thanks for your advice, NOT!.
