Last year I've seen a link to make personalized on-line video message from Santa. One friend of mine used this and the child was really happy with it. I think it's easy to google the address. Didn't use it myself. My kids kind of know the Santa is not real (told me themselves, long time ago when each was ~4-5 years old).

Yeah, it's called the PNP (personal north pole) it's pretty good and seamless. I've used it for both mine and a few adults, much fun was had lol.

I'd like to do both letter and the PNP thing.

No charity could exist with 100% going to the cause.
I wouldn't even mind if I donated £5 to a charity and £4 of it went to the actual cause, however after hearing 1st hand from people who work in and have benefited from charities I was disgusted when it turned out it may have been the other way round. That is why I stopped all my charity donations to large organisations like that.

My aunt and uncle work for a small organisation where it is all voluntary so I give them my money and know where it is going.
One of our local schools is also twinned with a school in Uganda and they have set up their own Charity account where money can be donated straight to the school. This past 2 years I have had thank you letters from 2 children who have thanked me for paying for them to get a lunch and dinner in school. And at Easter I was sent a thank you note from 3 children who had received their 1st pen, pencil and notebook of their own.

Another reason why I prefer to make my own letters for my children, it costs me nothing to do :)

But if charities pay employees and suppliers then surely that keeps people in work and paying their own way through life?
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • I used the NSPCC service last year and think I will just make my own this year. I ordered in lots of time and the letter came at the very last minute. A second one then came after Christmas. Id rather donate to the charities in other ways as they don't seem to be able to cope very well (IMO) with this kind of demand.

I guess since I leave a 'Thank you' from Santa on xmas eve, it would make sense to have both the same. I love the magic of Christmas so anything I can do myself, I love getting stuck in :)
