This is probably not as complicated as I think but a little advice from someone a bit more savvy than me would be appreciated....
Currently I have an iphone 4 w/tesco. I have purchased a 5s from apple and I am planning to put a sim-only contracted sim from EE into the new phone, so obviously it will have a new number.
When I set up the new phone do I set it up as a new iphone or from the last back-up of itunes of the old phone? And when I sync the new phone will everything transfer to the new as itunes thinks its the old number.....
I intend to get the pac code and transfer the old number too, when I get the time....
Does that make any sense?

You don't say what you want to happen - if you want to start afresh then select it as a new phone. If you want your original Apps and data moved across then select it as an additional.
The phone number has no relevance to the process Apple uses the phones own Device ID to recognise what you want to do with it - so you could swap SIMs weekly and it wouldn't make any difference.0 -
I want all the stuff off my old phone transferred to the new phone, then the old number transferred across too...{Signature removed by Forum Team}0

The number goes with the SIM only. Set it up as an additional phone, and everything moves over and will remain so on both handsets until you delete the old one.0

Ah right, cool, seems pretty straightforward!{Signature removed by Forum Team}0

Restore from iTunes for the new phone.
To transfer the number over you will have to get on the phone to tesco and request a PAC code. You give this to EE.
you will be carrying two phones around for a bit.0 -
Thanks guys....was just a little bit worried because itunes shows your phone number when you've synched. Thought it might get confused between the old number and new when I transfered apps/etc to the new phone.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0
