Confused - Price comparison sites' savings higher than company quotes

I'm considering switching from British Gas when my contract ends at the end of November and Ovo look like a good option.

However, the potential saving shown on CEC and Uswitch is double to that quoted on the Ovo website. Why is this? Presumably the Ovo one is more likey to show the correct saving.

It is possible comparison sites are using imminent price changes in their estimate - that would make the savings different - British Gas are bumping prices at the end of November. Ovo may have used your current prices for the whole estimate.

Or it is possible you have selected the incorrect tariff - there are often many tariffs with very similar names.

Use your annual usage in kWhs - work out the cost of your current British Gas tariff, work out the cost after the British Gas price change and see if that explains things.
