refused account re name, anyone help?

I visited my bank with my daughter who is 16 and asked to open an account for her but as her surname is not the same as on her birth certificate they refused. Basically I moved her middle name (which is also my surname) to be hyphenated with her original surname. This was 8 years ago and there have been no roblems with any official bodies although her passport is as her birth certificate. Is there another bank who will open one for her or will they all say the same. She will need to have wages paid in. Thanks anyone.

Open the account in her legal name and you won't have any problem. Many banks are wary of opening accounts in names other than your legal one for reasons of ID fraud prevention.
If she want to be known by a hyphenated surname then she might want to change her name by deed poll. This will avoid such problems in future."Money is truthful. If a person speaks of their honour, make sure they pay in cash."0
