Car repair?

Hi,

We've just seen a really nice Honda Civic 1.6 (2001) but the only problem is the air conditioning doesn't seem to work...do you know how much it would cost to get this fixed? Or do you know any websites that I could find out from?

It could need regassing from £40-80 or a new compressor and pipes which could be as much as the car is worth!

We tried the fan and that gave out cool air. The air conditioning light turns on but there's no cold air coming out from it.
The car has full service history as well.

When you've started the car and it's idling, press the a/c switch and the revs should drop to indicate that the a/c clutch is engaged and the compressor should be working. If it seems OK then it probably needs a regas - plenty of firms and mobile people do this in the Yellow Pages. I had my mums Merc regassed and dye/leak checked for £70 recently.
