Aha! Today I solved my washing up mystery. OH was scrubbing them too so it wasn't that. Turns out he was a bit too MSE and might not have used quite enough washing up liquid

I worked for Company B for two years in 2006/08 and left, working out my entire notice period. Joined Company C and have been there ever since - except it was sold out to Company B last year. For the porridge I have started making up a batch of home made "Instant oats", like the pots you can buy.
I blitz around 200g of oats with around 50g of dried milk powder and a few teaspoons of brown sugar.
This can then just be made by pouring on boiling water to where it just covers, there is no need to cook them.
We then just add a handful of raisins or a few slices of banana for extra nutrition and sweetness.
I've started taking this as a cheap quick lunch to work as well£36/£240

Washing up: I put a sieve in the sink and rinse all the food scraps into that so the bits and pieces don't get stuck in the drain. I'm also a Fairy / green&yellow sponge-user, but I'm tempted to try Aldi and the e-cloths. I also rinse the dishes
Porridge, I use water and then add a bit of long-life milk at the end. Also use honey & banana to taste.
Clothes-washing, always at 30-40. I make my own laundry gloop and use vinegar as softener cos my eldest has eczema.
I tried Aldi's WUL and I got some kind of dermatitis in my hands (I can't wear most gloves). In the end I went for Surecare and my hands got better. I can also use Fairy with no ill effect. I read the labels of both Fairy and Aldi and I can't tell the difference but there must be.
I confess I let the water run -just not full open. I use a brush or a dishcloth but I find the cotton ones are not abrasive enough so I may knit some with acrylic yarn and see what happens.
The porridge I either put in a handful of sultanas or a squirt of honey. Works for us...............................................................................
