I don't want a standing charge ... is that now possible?

We have (what was) a granny annex. It has electricity that is supplied through the house but the gas supply is through a separate meter. We only put the boiler on now if there is a severe frost overnight in the winter so .... the British Gas bill at the moment is therefore about £40 a year.
Are there any suppliers who don't have a daily charge for South Wales?

    Elbico.
    Go to a comparison site.
    Enter 40 pounds a year.
    Find the cheapest vendor.

I did that but think(?) that the only ones coming up were companies I haven't heard of and seemed to be restricted geographically.

    I meant.
If you have entered the postcode, a switching site will take into account regional variation and not quote for outside of coverage.
You will not find any of the big six to be cheapest.
Do not assume the name means they won't supply you.

  • Thanks for this info, I thought ALL the energy suppliers had a daily standing charge now. My flat uses elec for heating however its got a gas hob which uses virtually nothing so I'm caught by the standing charge.

You might also want to consider if replacing the heating with GCH has a payback.
