Microsoft Office 2007 - best place to buy?

Options
I need to purchase a (legal) copy of Microsoft Office 2007.

Can anyone please recommend the best price supplier?

Also any advice on which is the best version to buy?

TIA

V

PS No, open office won't do on this occasion.

PPS Can one still legally install it on up to 3 pcs, as with previous versions?

Do you know anyone in fulltime education or a teacher? If so they can get the student edition, which is the full package - when I was studying I paid either £99 or £125.

Yes, that was certainly the case in the past. However, Office 2007 seems to be different and, unless I've got it wrong, the 'Home & Student' version does not include Outlook this time - see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101635841033.aspx.

I was therefore thinking I would probably go for either the standard edition or possible the basic one (excludes PowerPoint).

Hence the need for a keenly priced supplier!

  • The Home and student version isn't what he is talking about. I believe he is referring to an acadmeic license you can still get the full package just on an academic license which you can get off ebay that i know off and i think ebuyer.

why would anyone want to pay that sort of money for office?
If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.
  • Many thanks.

I certainly have daughters at university so is that sufficient or does one have to provide evidence of being an academic oneself?

Also is there any time limit on the academic licence?

Your daughters may be able to obtain it through university (could be the least hassle). Otherwise I think you have to send off some kind of proof, you're probably best checking with the supplier you buy it through. There's no time limit as such but you are (under terms of the licence) meant to uninstall it when the student/teacher no longer has that status, eg when daughters graduate (hope they get firsts, tell them to study!)

Do a search for Office 2007 OEM - the OEM versions are bulk CDs, with no MS technical support, no manual and no refunds (but do you need support for office?) they come at a fraction of the price. Much like Windows Vista Ultimate on an OEM CD £75, proper retail £220.

If you buy a PC from system builders like Dell, etc. all versions of the software you get are OEM.
Faith is believing what you know ain't so...

No refunds? Are you sure about that, if it's faulty then you're entitled to a refund or replacement as much as the retail version. That's what the Sale of Goods Act says isn't it? I think you still get a much bigger saving with an academic licence (and less restrictions) than an OEM version.

If you or someone you know works for quite a large company, see if they are enrolled in the home-use program run by Microsoft, I got a full copy of Office 2007 Enterprise for £17 last week, bargain by anyones standards!

been looking aswell for 1, eBay seems to be the place:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130126199834&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D130126199834%26fvi%3D1
