Which Tariff
I am currently with Npower and have actual consumption up to Aug and predicted from than until year end comes to 19659 for gas and 5544 for leccy.
Done the online comparison and Blue +Price Promise March 2015 is the best one so far.
I went on to Npowers site and did a quick check there and there claiming to beat it!
This is their details and to me gas looks dearer but leccy is cheaper but are they overrall cheaper than EDF?
Estimated payment amount£67.48a month
Price Fix April 2015 DD Electricity ex.VAT inc.VAT@ reduced rate
Estimated consumption 5544 kWh
Rate 13.910p per kWh 14.606p per kWh
Annual cost £771.17 £809.73
Gas details
Estimated payment amount£66.80a month
Price Fix April 2015 DD Gas ex.VAT inc.VAT@ reduced rate
Estimated consumption 19659 kWh

Annual standing charge £174.03 £182.73
Annual cost £763.41 £801.58
Payments
Annual electricity charge £771.17 £809.73
Annual gas charge £763.41 £801.58
This is the EDF tariff
Fees & charges (inc. VAT)
Standing charge £0.452 per day
Electricity
All kWh 11.750p per kWh
Gas
All kWh 3.661p per kWh

I can't believe all the comparison sites could have got it wrong as none brought up this Npower.
Any help gratefully accepted:T

Did you uncheck the "only show me tariffs I can switch to" option? This is a disgusting catch for newbies that the regulator should have banned years ago. How many newcomers can be expected to understand what leaving that at the default setting means?
Make sure you check the show me every tariff available option and try again with the comparison site. You should also look at what offers are available for each fuel on a separate tariff (look at the gas only or electriticy only options on the results page.)0 -
I am member of the MSE energy club and that didn't bring it up or Uswitch that doesn't have that option but will try on the others.
One thing I have noticed all say the tariff I am on is no longer available but I am being charged a lower per unit charge than the ones in the calculations they perform.
Now I understand why more people don't switch:(0 -
Any maths geniuse can help out - should I go to Npower or EDF?0

Your current tariff should still be available as an input tariff on the inputs page. There are at least 80 npower tariffs listed by uswitch. Are you sure yours isn't one of them?
As to difference in prices per kWh are you sure some are not inclusive of VAT?
npower tariffs do appear on results with uswitch. But as I said in post #2 on the last page of inputs (where you enter your usage) at the bottom of that page you have to select "No" to the question "Show plans we can switch you to today?".
In my region there is an £85 difference for that sort of usage between EDF and npower (EDF being cheaper). They both end at the same time so that removes that complication.
Double-check with your postcode on a comparison site. You may also want to check what knocking a thousand units off electricity or a couple off gas will do.0 -
Cheers Nada, good advice will give it a go0
