Hi. I have finished my first quilt, 625 squares, hand stitched together. I used recycled fabric, most I already had, old clothing, pillow cases, curtains. I bought a couple of shirts, a pair of pj bottoms, and a skirt from a car boot sale and charity shops. The back is a duvet cover bought for £1 from Age UK shop, and in the middle I have used an old candy striped flannelette sheet. I stitched the binding to the front, and did the quilting, with the machine. It took about four weeks to complete.

Has anyone else a quilt to show, I would like to see it.

    Oh and any tips please!
We are getting married in June and our family members are sending in bits of material with the RSVP's (they are not mad, we did ask them too lol) and we are turning it all into bunting (well me and our mums are) for the reception. We thought it would be a nice family thing joining both sides and were going to make it into a quite after to make a literal family heirloom :)
There is a problem... i need to learn to so and get a machine!!!

Been a keen sewer since I was 5 and I have only got into quilting late last year. I am working on a double quilt for our bed, very slow going as each block is different. Ilona your quilt is beautiful, you should be proud. I for got to say its this the first time I have posted on here. There are so many cleaver ladies who post on here, who have really inspired me these recently. Thank you all.

  • I agree, that's a beautiful quilt Ilona. I'm hoping to make a Christmas quilt. Never done quilting before so it will be my first quilt :) I stumbled across this fabric website which seems really cheap, I'm going to order some Xmas fabric from there.

    Ilona your work is beautiful.
I'm just planning to start my first quilt. It won't be very intricate as I need to make it as quick as I can
