Holiday cancellation

Legally you are the lead so you can do what you want. If you hadn't got a friend to take her place you would have lost the lot or had to go on your own. I think you are being very reasonable giving her all her money back minus the £70. When you fell out was it your fault or hers? If it was hers i'd be tempted to not give her the money as she obviously didn't give a monkeys about you, if it was your fault then I would give her the money as that's only fair.
If i'm honest it was a bit of both. I will give her it back because i don't to owe her anything, and it is her money after all.
I spoke with the holiday company today and they are investigating because it was one of their advisors who told her the (wrong) charge for the name change. Apparently the person who spoke to her wrongly advised her that there were 2 extra people added to the booking (one of them the name change) and that the charge was £35 each.
This was wrong the name change was £35 for flight there and £35 for flight back. £35 per person per flight is what the company said when making the change. So the £70 only applied to the 1 name change.
I'm quite annoyed with the holiday company because the third persons booking is irrelevant to my ex-friend (they paid seperately and even have a different flight reference number)...they even told her the new passengers names!!!0 -
I added a third friend a few days after i changed the name.
OK - but that's not exactly what you said here:A third person then added herself to my booking (they paid full holiday price- and more to add themselves to our booking.I'm quite annoyed with the holiday company because the third persons booking is irrelevant to my ex-friend (they paid seperately and even have a different flight reference number)...they even told her the new passengers names!!!
I would be very annoyed too.
The holiday company should not be discussing your booking with anyone but you (as the lead name).
I can understand why you want to give this money back, sort of closure, I guess.
I think, as your ex-friend would have lost all her money if you'd either cancelled or been 'no-shows' you're being pretty fair to her.
I hope you sort it out and have a good holiday.0 -

She sounds a thoroughly unreasonable sort. In the circumstances, I would be ecstatic if I got any of my money back. Well rid.0

Ooh bit of a data protection error there, would be tempted to ask for my name change money back due to lack of confidentiality
You must be a nice person to want to give her, her money back when she's been so awful, I hope you have a lovely holiday. 0 -
Me too. Tell them they are in breach of the Data Protection Act, you are extremely unhappy about this breach and unless they can redeem themselves then you will report them.Ooh bit of a data protection error there, would be tempted to ask for my name change money back due to lack of confidentiality You must be a nice person to want to give her, her money back when she's been so awful, I hope you have a lovely holiday.:beer:0
