Unarranged bank fee, advice

I have unarranged overdraft fees totally £70 from last month and wondered can I contest it. I have been under considerable stress with family ands moving. The amount in the account was believed to be enough as I periodically move money to cover a direct debit. Unfortunately with moving house and a demanding toddler, this went unnoticed and now have the fee. The bank never alerted me to say I went over. The other accounts I have with them had plenty to rectify the overdrawn one had I known. I'm online banking with them so seems unfair that I didn't get one message or call to state the situation. It's round £5 a day which racked up. The second charge came about as I was in the red due to the previous charge. I moved money before the debit time so believed there was money there. I only got these charges aware of yesterday when I finally got to sit down and sift through the finances.

A long shot I know but is there a chance to appeal this? I have been very good customer, never been in red or charged before. It's only now being extremely sleep deprived and had the house move. Please help me!

P.s. I don't like banks. :(

You owe it to yourself to appeal, as it costs nothing.

As an aside, but directly linked to your issue, I've never understood why people without the necessary attention to detail keep their bills money elsewhere and then transfer it at the last minute. I mean, even if you're earning, say, 3% elsewhere, £500 will only make you £12 after tax in interest per year. Transferring this £500 'float' to your bills account would wipe out charges altogether...and £12 is a whole lot less than £70!

    Think about it?
