Homeserve make loyal customers pay through the nose!

We've been with Homeserve for 16 years. Every year we have to have the same conversation at renewal time. We receive a greatly inflated price for the pleasure of giving them our custom again. (Please note the we have made 2 small claims in 16 years!)
I feel as if they try to lure new customers with low price offers and the loyal, long-standing customers are the ones paying through the nose for these offers.
The price we paid this last year is still being offered to new customers whilst out renewal price has increased by 183%.
Well, if they don't wish to continue the long-standing business relationship, we will take our custom elsewhere.
When will companies start to look after their customers and reward them for their loyalty as opposed to seemingly punish them for staying loyal whilst offering all the perks/offers to new customers?

Dillon - insurers will probably take a bit of a hit on profit for the 1st year to get a new customer. Most insurers do this.
They rely on apathy that people will not be bothered to switch after the first year.
If you are so annoyed with Homeserve, why reward them with your business again (even at a renegotiated price)?
There are many other alternatives.0 -
Why has it take 16 years to reach this conclusion?
Every insurance company in any sector is the same.0 -
Just for info...
I've just phoned them to cancel (threatened to go to British Gas). Was paying £351 a year, now £244. Will try a similar tactic at renewal next Sept.
I only got £107 off by refusing their first discount (£40 off).
Hope this helps.

So leave...?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

i get the same level of cover through my home insurance as extra home emergency cover for £48 per year on top of my insurance premium. If i claim which i use them every year home serve comes out. Its much cheaper to go through home insurance0

But this is not the only possible math to consider.
And not necessarily works with every home insurer.
Let's see.
If I add home emergency option to my Barclays Home Insurance, I will get £1500 limit of annual emergency cover with max 6 claims per year.
And they cover only pipes inside the house, not the outside (i.e., those in the garden and within your boundaries are not actually covered).
Not to say that making a relatively small emergency claim for a leaking water pipe I will lose my NCD for the whole home insurance (and at the moment I have >5 years of NCD on both buiding & content ins.).
In comparion, Homeserve gives an emegency cover up to £4000 per claim, with no limits on the numbers of claims. And they do cover all pipes you're responsible for, including those outside the building.
Plus, claiming on it does not effect my house&content NCD with Barclays

Dillon was grumbling about the high cost you wanted to charge for his renewal 2 months ago, and undoubtedly will have resolved the issue by now!0 -
