replacement larder window

hi

our larder / pantry (under stairs) window is in bad shape and needs replacing. approxi size is 9 inch wide by 24 inch tall. its single glased at the moment.

i called up one of the local suppliers and he quoted me £400 for it. said these sizes can only be done in aluminium.

any idea as to where i can find a replacement or other alternatives? i was hoping to have some ventilation but if its costing £400 odd may be i have no choice but to brick it!

Think it is down to the size your after, as it would need to be custom built and not something of the shelve.

Could try and ask a joiner to make new window frame and buy a single pane of glass from a glazier.

  • It may not be too difficult or cost too much to make the hole in the wall bigger or smaller to suit a standard window. I recently had to move a window 200mm sideways because of a new extension and did it without any difficulty.
  • I made my pantry window from timber that cost less than a fiver.

£200 tops, the window in pvc would be about £60-£80, depending where you live will depend on the labour cost. Some companies also won't be able to weld the window this size as its very small on the width. Put a trickle vent in for ventilation
