RAC renewal
Love the RAC - used them a few times & always excellent service - however the admin side not so good.
Received the 'you don't have to do anything' renewal letter & noticed cost was £250 which struck me as very expensive for 3 drivers admittedly with Home Start included.
RAC phoned to check we were renewing (always a sign that some negotiation is possible).
In less than 30 seconds the £250 was reduced to £120.
While obviously pleased to have agreed an acceptable cost I wonder how many people just auto renew?

The same amount that auto renew car insurance, home insurance and don't cap utilities. God bless them, keeping it cheap for the smart ones.

When ever that happens to me, I find a cheaper alternative and then call to cancel. When they say they can reduce the amount I tell them to stick it, they should have quoted their best price to start with.0

As mentioned currently in an other thread the ADAC is much cheaper.
It's a non-profit, member-owned organisation as opposed to the RAC, AA etc which are nowadays simply business companies out to make a profit0 -
Thanks for your comments.
I should feel happy to have saved over £100 but just feel hollow - I think this is what bitter/sweet is like?
Happy I've got my cost down but massively disappointed that it took a phone call to do this - all the elderly etc that just renew losing money0
