Switched 1 day before Scotish Power announced Hike

After a very long afternoon of collecting data, speaking with my current provider and deliberating if I should switch or not, I took the plunge and made the decision to switch to a new dual fuel provider.I used the energy club to begin the switching application on wednesday. One day later the new provider I chose have announced their price increases. I don't know how this will affect my application as it seems the process takes around 6 weeks. I am wondering if they will honour the fixed tariff I selected or will they say my application was not in time? Does anyone have any information on this ? I imagine others will face the same problem as more hikes are due to be announced by the remaining providers.

As long as the application was put in before they removed the tariff, you'll be fine. The only risk is that CEC didn't forward your application in time but even then they probably have an agreement that means it'll still be honoured.

Many thanks DragonQ for taking the time to reply. If you are correct it will be very good news and I will benefit hugely from the Scottish Power tariff I chose. I wonder if you know of a way to contact the CEC to ask the question, was the application forwarded in time? I cannot find any contact details for them. I am concerned that I will be left with little time to try and get onto a fixed rate tariff from another provider if my application was not successful.
