Hi,
I really don't know what to pick.
My OH, who is not a tech savvy could really do with a tablet (mainly because he constantly plays games on my Kindle Fire so when I want it it's either empty battery or he is using it).
But I cannot decide which one. He once said that if we had second tablet we would get full sized one. So my sights were on Ipad. But now the Kindle has 8.9'' one.
I think what he is mainly going to be doing is play with it, watch movies, surf internet and perhaps view work documents on it.. pdf and so on.
Would the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9'' for £199 (ie not the really expensive one) be good enough for that? Or perhaps even better? I don't know whether he would be able to use the full potential of an Ipad, he hardly knows how to use my Iphone and doesn't have an Itunes account yet (for backing up etc) either.. but don't want to get something and limit him in doing stuff either..
IYKWIM.
What would you choose and why?
(please speak from experience, no Apple haters and sheep comments etc...)

I have had a Nexus 7 for a year or so and am very pleased with it, although as I get older I feel a larger screen would be better for me.
Nothing wrong with iPads, apart from the expense.
So at the moment I'm interested in seeing what the prices are for the rumoured new Nexus 10. It will probably be running KitKat rather than Jelly Bean.

Thanks.
I know nothing about KitKat or Jelly Bean, apart from it being confectionery. One of the reasons I was looking either on Kindle or Apple, I am very familiar with them and like their build and easness (sp??) of use.
But it has been decided now. Combined offers, Tesco vouchers etc and got the Ipad 4 for £296 final price. Wasn't planning on using Tesco vouchers, but have nothing better to spend them on currently so thought why not.
Hope I've done right...0 -
Personally, neither of them.
Amazon your locked to the proprietary version of android and amazon marketplace.
Apple you pay 3 times what the item is worth, and again tied to the apple proprietary software.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
Just purchased a Nook HD tablet for my daughter.
Cost £80 & I am amazed how good it is.0
