Switching from BT

Decided to switch from BT to Sky for landline and broadband. BT offered us free fibre last year so took up the offer knowing that there would be a strong possibility of a price rise at the end of the twelve month contract. Latest bill came in last week showing the infinity 1 broadband credit of £9.35 per month would finish this week, contacted BT who would not offer better deal so decided to switch to Sky. BT have now written stating that there will be a £49 charge for early termination of the contract and the usual comments about them being superior to the other provider.
Just phoned BT who informed me that the contract for the fibre hub runs until early December and the contract states that I must pay for the cost of the hub if I terminate early. I stated that the fibre infinity 1 credit finished this week so how was it possible for the hub contract to finish almost two months later than the fibre infinity as both were on a twelve month contract and infinity without the hub etc was not possible. The BT advisor suggested I speak to someone else in customer services.
I don't want to have to pay the £49 but will if necessary as I will be saving £20 per month following the Switch, not including the £25 Marks and Spencer voucher that Sky just sent me.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with BT or am I alone ?

Pleased to say that after speaking with a helpful advisor today the £49 charge has been removed. Turns out that either the Infinity 1 contract commenced before the hub arrived 6 weeks later or someone recorded the incorrect date for the supply of the hub.
