I can understand your hurry to get a house but there is no rush. Just keep saving and apply for Vanquis. Also have a look at the gudie which is Credit Cards for bad credit history. They will be very good. You can also check how likely you are to get a credit card without a search on your credit file.
I would definitley focus on getting your partners credit rating up as well because that will help as well in the grand scheme of things.
Hope this has helped.
Oh I'm sorry how would you like me to motivate someone asking about a mortgage with an IVA? I am pretty sure the OP didn't come on this forum looking for lies & sympathy.0 -
I have added myself and my Fiance to the electoral roll where we live, and I have applied for a credit card specifically designed for people with CCJ'sThe card I applied for was Luma (Capital One) who claim to specialise in helping people like me with CCJ's and bad credit to rebuild their rating.
Did you check that the electoral roll had been updated before you applied? It generally only gets updated once a month in most places I think?0 -
Hi, yes I applied to be entered on to the electoral roll in August and was advised the they would be updating the register on 1st September, I waited until 3 weeks into September just to be sure it had been updated before I applied for the Luma card, but perhaps that wasn't long enough to register the change, something I will look into, thank you.0

I am not telling you to lie I am saying you should be a bit more helpful. How is that post going to help the OP? Tell them what they can do to improve there chances of getting a mortgage.0 -
I believe there is a thread on rebuilding credit ratings/credit file clean up after bankruptcy on the bankruptcy board? you may find this useful?
Other things - do you have a contract mobile at all? this will help. As the amount is quite small you may find you are accepted for one.
Another thing is to consider a prepay card, where you preload the card with money each month and spend from that. I have no idea how it helps your credit rating but it is meant to somewhow.
In terms of getting a mortgage I fear this will be very difficult in the short to medium term, especially if your other half does not have a great credit rating either. However, that's not to say it will be impossible, you just might not get the best rate(s). Obviously do what you can now and save as much as you can to give you a high deposit.
Best of Luck

Thank you for that, I'll have a look, yes I do have a contract mobile phone, I've actually had it for 10 years, before, during and after the debt, that luckily remained unaffected and I always tried really hard to keep on top of my phone bill even when I was in financial difficulty, so hopefully that will make a small contribution, I will investigate pre-pay cards too, and yes we are saving saving saving, I'm hoping that a substantial deposit when it comes to applying for a mortgage will have some bearing on the lender's decision. Thanks for the advice0

I would check all 3 credit files, just to check that everything is correct and the correct default dates are on there, also check it periodically just to check some incorrect default don't sneak on there again.
