UK bank account for expats

I live in Spain, but have a UK (Lloyds tsb) bank account into which my pension is paid.
Is there an alternative bank where overseas transactions/withdrawals
are free?
(I do not have a UK address, so doubt that credit checks would find me!)

The Santander 123 account comes with a Debit card that has no ATM charges in Spain. However, I doubt you will be able to open any current account them without a UK address.
Only UK mainland banks I am aware of that take on non-UK residents are the UK branches of some of the Indian banks (SBI, Baroda). I don't believe they do free international transactions.
Your other option might be to look at using a specialist currency transfer service to pay yourself your money into your spanish account.0 -

Thanks for those replies. I'll investigate.
As an alternative, what about top-up currency cards? Do they have the same restrictions?0 -
Hey there

Do you by any chance live near Gibraltar? Even if you don't, it's worth calling up these banks:
Natwest
Lloyds (If you're made of Gold)
N&P (If you atleast work or have an address in Gibraltar)
Jyske Bank (If you're made of Silver)
Many of those banks offer accounts to people that reside in Spain though generally a connection to Gibraltar is required but it depends on how much money you have :rotfl::j Time to start saving for the future! :j0
