This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Well hopefully today will be my last meeting with HR and my job will be confirmed as redundant. I really need this closure as the machinations, deviousness and hypocrisy continue amongst management and HR, I just wish I could leave now instead of 31st December but if I do, I need to resign and would lose all of my redundancy package. If it's all over today, I can SUMO.

Need to post a few little parcels today from ebay sales and one Amazon. Not much in the way of money but it all adds up to pay off debts/save for our endowment shortfall so shall keep going.

DGG is coming to stay at weekend and for first couple of days of next week, as her October half term overlaps DH's. Her room is chaos at the moment, so need to get working on sorting that one out. The trouble with decluttering is finding somewhere to put stuff while you are working somewhere else. Or may be it's just the amount of clutter that we have :o

Time to get ready so will go with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone in need of them or who just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all,

Cold but dry here, I am off to work need to drop little dog off at mums and dd and friend at station.

DD went out last night with a girl from uni, she texted me at 11.30 to ask if her friend could stay over as she has missed her last train, so they both arrived trying to be very quiet, and sounded more like a couple of elephants with much giggling and tripping up the stairs !

Off to work for me, dinner tonight will be something with chips I think it might be a chicken kiev, Tesco dlivering tonight too.

    Wuvvies, hugs to you x

Jools, hope you are doing ok xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Dry but much cooler here this morning.

DH up and getting ready for work - no stupid early start today, he's making the most of it - whilst it lasts!

Dinner last night was delicious beef stew and dumplings, mash, and veg - clean plates all round. Not sure what we will be having tonight - maybe chicken kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk, and omlette and salad or jacket potato for me. DH still being overly nice after his outburst the other night. Just can't be doing with it and am just getting on with the stuff I need to do. These episdoes really wear me down and contributes to me then feeling overwhelmed with how much I need to get done etc, and also can be factor with how I feel in general about day to day life, our relationship, and most importantly, what effect it has on our immediate family. Hoping a couple of days away will help lift my mood somewhat. I really love where we're going and we'll meet some really good friends so hoping we'll have some good company, laughs, food and drink.

Got loads to do today and don't really know where to start - because we're going away tomorrow, all tomorrow's jobs need to be done today, and then I effectively lose tomorrow aswell iyswim. Have ordered an on-line shop for later so at least that's taken care of. Just need to do all the other jobs, washing, drying, ironing, packing for us and the boys separately. Housework, if time allows do some baking/cooking. Need to go into town and the bank also.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Well the red hot unusual weather seems to have eased, still nice and warm 25C, but a bit more cloud and more suited to doing things.

SUMO - Shut Up Move On (I had to google it)

Skye as I mentioned before had a poorly tummy, well while she was still OK in herself, the diarrhoea would not completely go, so rang the vet we had out here for advice, he was with a patient, but rang us back, and as luck had it was on a house call in our area. Came & examined her, said she had a bug, which while not too nasty, would not go without medicine. Gave her an injection and two lots of tablets. Total cost 37€. It would cost us that just for a vet to look at here in his surgery in the UK! She seems to be better, on advice I had kept her off food since the night before, by tea time she was hungry, and she "talks" when she wants something, I held out for a while, before making her the rice and a little chicken he had recommended, just a small dish, which disappeared without a trace, then she "asked" for more, so another small dish, which did satisfy her. I will have to try to get this "talking" on a video, it is so funny.

Dinner last night was a chicken, yes we got some too, with brocolli, cauliflower, carrots & green beans, and new pots. for DH. Enough cooked for tonight, so we will be having the same again tonight. Made a real change from the salads we had been living on. The weight is slowly creeping off thankfully, but only if lunch is only a piece of fruit. Might need to do a bit of tidying today:o

NMLC ((hugs)) but you seem to be cooking far too complicated meals on work days, maybe you need to look after you a bit. remind him you work too, and put some jobs on him.

((hugs)), spoons, positive vibes to all. Take care everyone. DG

    Morning all!

Got loads of the garden cleared last night, bonfire pile ready - although we shall move it on the day so at to not massacre any critters than may have called it home.

May tackle some more today, but we're running out of space. Plus I really need to get some revision done.

Last of my spicy lentil and tomato soup for lunch, I think dinner will be a simple affair of fish fingers and smiley faces. Or Goujon de Poisson with Pomme Smiles and a red Jus to jazz it up a little. (after getting hooked on masterchef OH and I always try to 'posh up' our dinners and present them like we were in a Michelin star restaurant... we need to get out more)

Washing machine is fixed wahhooo so lots of washing to be tackled.

    That's all to report now.

Hugs to all of you! x
  • Morning, ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) if you need one.

OH up for longer yesterday. Got him washed, dressed and down stairs before lunch. He went for a siesta and got himself up, I fell asleep on the settee and was just going up with his tea and cake when he opened the bedroom door.

He was back to bed after supper so I spent all evening up and down stairs between the programmes on TV.

Will be going up shortly to get him up and washed. Might take his stockings off and have a loo at his foot. He has compression stckings on just now to reduce the swelling.

Lovely clear crisp autumn morning, how long it will last well thats another question. From what I heard last night today is to be fair and its to rain again tomorrow. yukkk.

Think we will have sausage mash and beans tonight, I have some beans left from Tuesday night, we can use them up........

Soon be the end of the month. DGD's 20th birthday on Tuesday we are iinvited for supper. Should be able to get OH into the car by then, I hope!!
