cost of structural survey?

The house we like has obvious structural issues to the front wall (upvc windows have been used to replace old ones with no lintel supports so wall falling down!!!!) ridge tiles are missing as well as whole tiles from the roof. repointing needed under damp proof and to chimmey. (know this as husbands a builder!!!) The whole inside is a mess too!!!!! The EA advise was to have an offer excepted and renegotiate when a survery is done!!!! As Vendor seems to think nothing is wrong with the house. I don't like playing that game so I asked EA if the vendor would mind if I had a structural survey done before I increassed our offer. So my question is what is the cost of one of these??? We have a large amount to but down on this house so need to borrow very little. We also know what needs to be done and how to do it, I just need something in writting to show the seller there really is issues!!!!!!
thank you for any info
