To cyber beg or not?????

Even if you did beg, there's no quick fix to get out of 20k worth of debt and honestly, I don't think most people would even donate to such a 'cause'.
I don't think begging for handouts is the way to get help. At the end of the day you got yourself into this mess, it's your responsibility to get out of it. Sometimes we need to learn life's lessons the hard way, if you free yourself using handouts, you'll not learn anything from the process and you'll be more likely to just tend up in the same place again in the future.
You've been given some good advice so far, post up your SOA and let the people here help and support you, I think that's your best first step right now.Paid off my debts, saved up my cash and now I'm finally buying my own home!0 -
After the SOA and appropriate action - which is clearly the best action,
Been racking my brains for another positive way for the OP to move forward, while looking through Martins weekly email, have a click on the compers link 'I won £20,000' if you have time and internet this would seem the cheapest way to go and still acceptable, and definitely not begging.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Why would anyone help you? I would consider helping someone I knew if I was aware they were struggling through no fault of theirs at all and really doing their best to cut everything down.
I certainly would not help a stranger who for all we know might have accumulated debts by having spurge on luxuries and a head in the sand. You're not even making a case why people should help you besides stating that you don't want to repay your debts for the next 20 years...No one would, but if that's what you have to do, then you need to accept it or find a way to increase your income by your own doing.0 -
This will sound hard. Which of you possessions have you sold?
I'm looking for some particular 70's 12 inch Vinyl LP's From a particular punk band, and would be happy to make a donation, if you had them.
I should imagine that you have lots of stuff that you might want to sell before asking for donations.0 -
The cynic in me says re donating to this sort of thing what I say for a lot of people begging/scamming in the street.
What's to stop me or anyone posting a sob story and setting up a website for donations? I could have that second holiday in no time.
(Not a jibe at the OP, but why should I trust some random online person to be telling me the truth.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Hello and welcome,
Alongside the other advice that people have offered you, read up on Save Karen - a woman who did what you're proposing. She managed to pay off her debts by asking for donations AND alongside selling items on eBay.
An option that you could explore is to set up a blog about your debt free journey. From that, you can link to your eBay auctions and also have a "buy me a coffee" Paypal button - I see to recall that you can't ask for donations as such. You could also set up advertising on your blog and earn a little bit of money from that.
There are some fantastic challenges on here - there's a thread going where you break your debts down into 1%s at a time and try to earn a bit extra to pay those off. There's also the "make £10 a day" challenge that you might find interesting.
Read everything you can on here. Don't run away because people above are being harsh (truthful!) with you. You CAN do this. It will be hard, you need determination and help.I like to make money
Best wins: £3,000 luxury holiday, holiday in Cornwall, £250 Murad Skincare hamper, angle grinder
:j Make £10 a day challenger - it pays for trips to Florida! :j

I've been reading this with interest over the last couple of days, predominantly because I remember a few months ago the thought crossed my mind also - I would imagine a few people have contemplated this when that sheer panic hits and you realize just how far you have slid. The thought didn't last for long but it most certainly was contemplated when I didn't know how I was going to find my way out of the mess.
At some point you realize that you are responsible for getting yourself into the debt, and you will have to be responsible for getting yourself out. I don't say this to be harsh - I say it as a matter of truth. You need to face this but do not be afraid because you could not be in a better place for help and advice.
You are getting some tough responses here because there are a lot of people who are kicking their own @$$ to get out of debt and making some serious sacrifices along the way. To have someone pop up and ask about getting others to pay their way out is hitting a few nerves - understandably. That's not a dig at you, just a brief attempt at an explanation for the terse responses so please understand that the people here are truly lovely but even their patience will be tested to breaking by a post like this one.
Take a breath, let this thread die (and it will soon enough) and dive into some of the other threads which will give you ideas and inspiration on how to move forward. You CAN get yourself out of the debt, you just need to know how and everything you need to know is right here along with some incredible support. I promise you.

The OP doesn't appear to actually be asking for advice about dealing with their debts from the posters on here.
It appears they only signed up so they could link to their money raising site. The first post she added was deleted presumably because it looked like it was breaking forum rules.
Perhaps the thread would be better in discussion time.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
If the "cure" is quick and painless then 100% guarantee it will happen again. For a lasting solution, it has to be tough and painful otherwise the pattern will repeat itself.
