Secure trust bank do an account like this. No late fees or overdrawn charges but it is £12.50 a month. They give you a prepaid card to use too.

Accounts with the specific service, free or chargeable, to stop you from going overdrawn wil not allow you to go overdrawn.

I can't say for all of them, but the "control" service provided by TSB, Lloyds and Halifax specifically says you CAN go overdrawn for offline transactions, but if you do so, they will not charge any fees. You'll probably need to change your card to make sure you can't go overdrawn (which will then decline offline transactions).

Use cash rather than a card to control your spending.
  • My suggestion...

Yorkshire Building Society Cash Transactor savings account allows direct debits, standing orders, online banking, LINK cashpoint card but no debit card.

I have one of these accounts as my Bills Account and coupled with a spreadsheet, I have never gone overdrawn :).

I also have three other basic accounts which I use for various things such as Motoring spending and Personal Spending.

    Hope this helps.
