Is there a reason why you don't pay UK tax? Most of my rig worker clients still pay uk tax, unless they are based on a vessel rather than a rig and get Seafarer's Allowance.
In all honesty, I think you may continue to struggle to find cover, just based on the tax issue and not working in the UK.
Do you work for a company registered with Companies House? and are you based within the European Union?
On a slightly different note, do you really need unemployment cover? I deal with a lot of rig workers and then tend to be saying that the industry is booming at the moment. Most of them tend to be more concerned with loss of income due to ill-health.
Could you not just build up an emergency fund which covers this eventuality?0 -

i dont pay uk tax because i work for a norwegian company and pay norwegian tax,i guess most of your clients will work abroad but for a uk based company.im looking for unemployment cover because ive just taken on a fairly big mortgage and would like the security.theres always a chance of losing a contract out here and things going wrong.the emergency fund i had built up is getting spent on the deposit for the house.
