Updated Ebay android app is security risk.

That's the choice you make using it. You can unlink Paypal account. Some people want a choice to buy and pay for something with one click.
Others don't want that choice though, but it seems ebay have done the buy and pay with one click anyway with no way to turn off that feature on the app. That makes it a security risk and that shouldn't be the case. You shouldn't have to remove the app or unlink your paypal account because of it, it should be an optional feature.0 -
Isn't there some kind of small print in the terms and conditions that if you have the instant pay thing you are suppose to password lock your phone? When I signed up to get a text message once a week from my bank with recent transactions I had to agree to password lock my phone.
I have AVG on my phone and if it was ever lost, from my PC, I can not only lock the phone but can have it restore factory settings and wipe everything off it. It is free on Android. I am sure there are other similar programs.0 -
. I have never used PayPal on this tablet. Seems very dodgy to me.....By the way, I don't have faster payments on my PC either.
So if you've never used PayPal on the tablet and don't have your eBay set up for faster payments on the PC..... are you saying that the new eBay app ransacked your computer, deciphered your PayPal password from when you've logged on previously and then sent it back to the app on your tablet allowing it to log in automatically?
in short what I'm saying is... you (or somebody with access to your PayPal and tablet) must have set it up otherwise your tablet and eBay app wouldn't know your PayPal email address and password to make payments.0 -

What I am saying is: I downloaded the app onto my new tablet, bid on something, pressed pay. Next page came up, while I was looking for PayPal log on the page it changed to 'paid'. I had apparently paid without entering my PayPal password. I find this disconcerting and a massive security risk. I have been told you can't 'turn off' the automatic PayPal payment. I am not looking for an argument merely attempting to make other people aware that it is a security risk. Prior to the update this didn't happen.0 -

PITA it is.
Whilst on the PC i saw the link to the faster payment and thought not a chance.
Just realised there is no log out button either and it stays logged in......0 -

i know what you mean, but even though PayPal are owned by eBay, your tablet would need to know your Paypal details for it to be able to pay. They can't just take it from your eBay account - if you use the same email and password.0
