Printer / scanner / copier recommendations please!

I thought this would be a common question, but the threads I searched are all a good few months old, so I'll start afresh.

I'm in the market for a new combined printer / scanner / copier. Budget is around £50 to £100 (nearer the lower figure the better!). I'm particularly interested in keeping the price per sheet as low as possible - our present Epson, that's just given up the ghost, just won't work on non-genuine ink, so I'm also interested in any that happily use compatible cartridges.

It will mostly be used for printing text (letters etc for the youth organisation we volunteer for), with occasional use for photos, posters, daughter's college work etc.

Also needs to have wifi so daughter can print from her lap top (from what I can make out so far you'd struggle to buy one without now anyway!)

TIA :D

I suggest you look on a good stationery site like Choice Stationery for the cheapest replacement inks for a multi function printer first, and then search online to see if you can buy that printer still. Companies like Morgan Computers have lots of old models come in.

  • If you're looking for cheap running costs, stick to Epson.
Compatible inks - that are GAURANTEED to work - can be found on the bay or (in my experience, better) Ama ... Ama ... oh, that big South American River - sounding - named - place! :D
If they DON'T work, send 'em back; simple. ;)
Because TBH, I've found that there is very little difference in print quality between makes at this price point and little difference in reliability. And I've had a few! :o
The major cost is the ink - and Epson seems favourite for compatibles.
    HTH.

You could always buy a Lexmark or a Dell (Same) and sell your house for the ink :-)
