Oh no... another first car thread.....

So after my motorised bicycle accident a few months ago I'm in the market to get my first (yay) car.

Now I won't be bbuying for a month or so, as I'm still broken, which friends and family seem to get great joy out of by pointing out the obvious one daily basis :(

I cant risk the possibility of securing another job and being in another accident and things going tits up again, not that I'm planning on another one, but being a squishy thing on a bike bloody well hurts, and throws a spanner in to your carefully laid plans, so a car seems to be the better option right now, with the motorbike dream taking a stint on the back burner temporarily, shhhh don't tell the Mrs :rotfl:

So recommendations people.....

28 ouch, I'm an old man :o held a licence for a year
A mini me on the way, yes I finally trapped me a fair maiden, so I'm thinking a family(ish) type of car.
Type of car, I'm extremely open minded, but reliable, doesn't cost the earth to run, and looks nice.
Insurance wise, I've done a few quotes on a few cars and they seem to be much of a muchness, £600 for 1.4 corsa club, up to £1000 for a vectra Sri T 2.0 and many in between
Budget around 3 - 4k

So chuck some ideas at me, as I'm lost in the sea of possibilities out there.

    I would say

    Ford Fiesta
    Fiat Panda
    Honda Jazz
    Skoda Fabia

All good cars, good size for little ones, car seats and a pushchair in the boot.

I vote for the Škoda Fabia.

Don't forget the little 'hook' above the S - it makes all the difference.

It turns a Skoda into a SCH-koda. :rotfl:
