I'm looking for a laptop for my parents to replace their old desktop, just to be used for browsing internet, photo storage and editing, watching iplayer, dvds etc. Budget is around £400. I have been looking for one with Windows 7 as I understand that Windows 8 is not very user-friendly and have seen this one at Argos
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1092952.htm but this is Windows 8 and am wondering if it would be worth paying the extra for this one which is Windows 7?

Thanks in advance

This HP is still available for about £300 (don't need to spend £400 for browsing the internet)

I agree, Windows 8 is not user friendly, It's a bit complicated.
Windows 7 is good for parents.0 -
I don't know what the fuss is about windows 8 . I assume your parents must be in their eighties if you are old enough yourself to worry you may not be comfortable helping them migrate to a new operating system. If all they want is email, surfing and skype then 8 shouldn't be too much of a reach for any of you and will broaden your choices of machine in the price bracket.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I can`t see the point in buying a brand new pc and not having the latest system.
Personally I wouldn`t buy anything but Dell.
Any of these would do for what you described as required. starting at £329.
The £379 would be ideal.

Personally I find Windows 7 easier. The 8 version took time to get used to.0

The best I could find for your budget (not including any laptops already listed on this page), it should keep them going for a while. And you may as well get them Windows 8 as its actually pretty easy to use http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/ACER-V3-571-NX.RYFEK.040_1431736.html0
