Beware price comparison sites

Just a word to the wise. Following very good advice I recently changed by gas and electricity tariff using a price comparison site. I changed tariff but not supplier mind. When I looked on my supplier site a few weeks later I found the tariff was still as before. I rang my supplier only to be told that you can't change tariffs on price comparison sites only suppliers. I did not know that and maybe others will not either. So jus beware. To change tariffs but stay with the same supplier as I have now done you have to contact your supplier direct.

How did you come to try and use a comparison site to change your tariff when you were already with that supplier?

Whilst comparison sites have to list all the suppliers and all the tariffs, you are only permitted to switch to some of the options via the site ... and any option with the same current supplier is not normally permitted as there is nothing in it for the comparison site.
