Postage costs double what was quoted?

You guys are comparing chalk and cheese. When a HK seller sends you a 5 gram item for 15p with free postage, they are sending under license where they pay to send x amount of weight per year, but when you send a coat to Australia and it costs 45 quid postage, that's exactly what it costs you for the one item.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Anyone know how much it costs them?
I bought an item for £5 with free delivery. It would have cost me £14 to send it back.
I did wonder how can they make any money?
Waiting for something now, Half the price of UK listed ones, And they are the same item.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I've a feeling that coats are in one of the categories that has a limit on how much postage can be charged. Last year when I was looking in that section I noticed a few people mentioning this £4.00 as the max they were allowed to charge and so much preferred a personal collection.

Thats' right so all seller has sensibly done is add the additional postage costs to the start price
All the 'they made a mistake on postage' is a red herring and is probably because many private sellers still want the p and p costs shown additionally to cover everything and don't realise that many private sellers are also business sellers so can adjust where costs are loaded when they list.
Pyschologically it is something that I have suggested previously for someone with terrible stars (not that this is the case here I am sure0, but by charging less p and p than it actually costs you almost guilt trip a buyer into leaving 5* across the board- as why wouldn't they when they think a seller has made a mistake.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I had the exact same thing with a book to the Republic of Ireland last week. Scales at home told me one thing but the one in the branch said something else. Annoying but nothing much you can do about it. :cool:0
