Hi, need help regarding no claims bonus discount

I'm 26 years old and for teh past 7 and a half years I have always been a named driver. Never made any claims etc.

Now I am looking to become a policy holder. Problem is my premiums are ridicously high i.e. £1000 for a car in group 15 band. Its no performance car or anything. Just a 2.5L car.

Now, the question I want to ask is does anyone know anyone who is able to provide incentives like "gain extra 2 years no claim bonus" if you join a insurance provider or something along those lines??

Anyone?

some do "accelerator" schemes where you get the discount after10 months instead of 12. your insurance group seems high? i pay £350 for a group 16 car (i have a discount tho) if you do get a big discount check that it can be transferred at another company later on cause some might not honour it. you get the biggest discount after the first year (30%). habe you tried the insurance supermarkets on the web? they seem pretty good. can you go third party instead of fully comp?

    insurance supermarkets?

what like confused.com? I used that, thats where I got this best quote of £1000.

That bonus accelarator idea isn't good in my opinion, coz you loose out on 2/3 months.

Going third party can be cheaper but risky :)

is your car definately group 15? i heard that if you add someone else to the policy eg. a parent it can be cheaper (not tried this tho). have you an alarm/immobiliser fitted? do you intend on doing alot of miles (maybe if you keep below 10000 it might be cheaper)? the price should come down heaps once your over 21 or 25? im insured with sainsburys and they were £100 cheaper than the next quote. the website i used for the quotes i found on MSE, dont think it was confused.com tho. :)

Some insurers will credit you with NCB for being named driver on another policy, although often only if the other policy was with them as well.

Unfortunatly most quote websites aren't geared up to do it. You're probably have to ,shock hororr, speak to a real person. Either the company themselves or a broker

Yes like AndyL says, if you ring the company you have been a named driver with you might be able to get a deal with them.

I know my insurance company don't actually advertise it but they sent through a leaflet to policy holders letting them know they do offer this as long as the named driver gets a policy with that same company.
