More thanks from me, lol.
Never thought about a ground anchor, bike will be in back garden but fairly open to view so will do something about that I think.
OH tried on leathers but said they felt very uncomfortable. He found 'Richa' stuff that was very comfortable to wear but I'm worried it wont protect him as much as leather will although I see Markyt has commented about that so maybe I'm worrying about nothing.
He has a few days to get something but there's not a great deal of choice in dealers near us or even within 100/150 miles unfortunately. Certainly no chains anyway, it's all small independants.0 -

Get a bike cover too, to keep the weather and eyes off the bike.
The cordura kit is good enough now to be allowed for basic track day use, at far higher speeds than you'll get on the road. I've had a 30mph slide on the road with no marks at all on either me or the cordura jacket.
Independants can be good - I don't tend to buy from chains, but I can get good kit at better prices from independants. Just go round a few and try on different makes.0 -
Anyone offer suggestions on which helmet/leathers are good as a starting point or where to buy (cheaper online?). We've been looking at Shoei helmets as we were told you get what you pay for in a helmet and they were a good make. Any advice here would be good too?
The most important thing about helmets is the fit, especially if you wear them for more than a couple of minutes at a time. For that reason, go to a shop and try on as many different helmets as possible to see which ones fit best.
Shoei are good helmets IME (as are Arais), but don't discount some of the cheaper options - I've been very impressed with the wife's Nitro helmet, to the extent that I certainly would consider getting one if they made one that would fit my head. Which they don't...
As to the quality of Hein Gericke kit, I've had one of their Goretex jackets for at least four or five years now and it's still OK. Mind you, it's getting on a bit now but it's still waterproof and still in one piece. And I wear that almost every day.0
